Week 15: Eldorado Argentina

McDons 🙂

Hello folks! Today might be another weird email week because its Eldorado´s birthday today, so everything is closed and I’m at the one computer at the church emailing, so I might get back on tomorrow to actually email! But anyways… This week felt SO LONG! So we had a district meeting Tuesday which was chill and all, and then we had divisions for a little while. I was with Elder Arevalo! He is from Santiago, Chile (Yes, Paden I talked to him forever about you being there. he told me to tell you the League of Legends server for South America is there and they have a pin of 18 or something) anyways we were just in Eldorado for a little, and it was kinda fun! I got to see how good I have become at Spanish, and we had a little success, but not too much! We also had a family home evening with The Medina´s they taught us… well me… how to cook a meal while my comp just sat there, and then we shares about how preparing food is like preparing to meet Christ, and the Lord had made the recipe and directions, we just have to follow him and trust that they will work!

Cooking with Medina!!:)

Cooking with Medina!!:)

Then Wednesday we cleaned the font all day getting ready for the sisters baptism that was supposed to be on Saturday, but then it got canceled! Then on Thursday I had to travel to Posadas…AGAIN! But this time I was only there from 8 until 2AM then we piled into a small van to go to Corrientes about 5 hours away to get citizenship here! Corrientes is HUGE and I was super happy I got to go with Elder Thomas! He is Elder Eddenfield’s cousin, and we are just as good as friends! The best part about it is that we went to this HUGE mall for lunch, and I had MCDONALDS! WHAT A GREAT DAY! I had 4 McDoubles and was so so happy! I felt like I was in Utah again, but I was definitely missing my friends.

McDonalds(Misiones my providence or state is like the armpit of Argentina and South America, there is nothing too nice here) So we did all that and then we got back to our area around 3am and slept! The next day we waited.. and waited.. and waited until 5 for the APs who were supposed to be here at 2. We then had divisions with them! I was with Elder Murillo from Colombia! He used to be catholic, which is like everyone here so he relates to them very well! I learned a lot from him! He dies in 2 months but doesn’t want to! Then on Sunday nothing really happened. We had no investigators at church again which just breaks my heart!

This week was SUPER rainy though. Like you have no idea. It rains so hard here it sounds like you’re in the middle of the ocean, and the thunder is deafening! I LOVE the rain, unless the sun comes out because then it gets blistering hot! It is always humid here. like always. it is killing me. 75-90 degrees isn’t bad, but that with 80-100 percent humidity is killer!

Fanny Pack game TOO strong

Fanny Pack game TOO strong

I read in 1 Cor 13:8 this week, and it says Charity never faileth. Notice how its not charity rarely or sometimes or mostly never faileth, but it says NEVER. Going out of your way to help someone or give will never fail you.

I love you all and thank you so much for the support!

Te amo todos y muchas gracias por su ayuda durante este tiempo en mi vida. Yo se que este iglesia es verdadera, y también que este realmente es la obra de dios, y el quiérenos a tener éxito, y encontrar las personas que ha preparado para el evangelio! LUCHE LUCHE LUCHE! Nunca dejar a luchar para la verdad!

Week 14: Eldorado Argentina

Another week……. wait a fire???

How blessed am I to serve in the MOST beautiful place on earth. I know it doesn't look like much, but this little creek is killer. Nothing is worse than when you're crossing this little guy... and then BOOM you're in the water. it happens to one of us almost every time, because the rocks are sketchy, and this week it was SUPER high because it rained NONSTOP! But I LOVE the rain here, but EVEYTHING I own gets muddy as crap, and then I don't look good, and ya know i still gotta keep the "Snakes" here happy! There are a ton in our ward! i am normally at the church for 25 minutes after taking pictures with random girls in the ward, it just reminds me I am still awesome even in Argentina;)

HELLO PEOPLE! sorry I am a little late today! I have been in Posadas making sure I am legal to live in this land of Argentina!:) This week was kinda slow! We had a zone meeting Tuesday, and I met our new ZL he is DOPE! Elder Averett is his name, and we’re straight homies now! Then divisions with Elder Eddenfield, and no questions asked, we killed it. Like 7 lessons, 1 baptismal date… But his area is 10 times easier than ours. Everyone says my area is the hardest in the mission to get investigators, but I am learning to deal with rejection!!:) Anyways……uhh then Thursday out to Medinas house for lunch, and I just love that man to death! 🙂 Then Friday morning during my shower sing sesh the shower head caught on fire… it was NUTS! I mean the thing was up in flames… so yeah that was entertaining! 🙂 Then on Saturday the Branch Pres. daughter turned 1 and I guess that’s a HUGE deal here in South America, so we posted up there for a while, and then walking back there was a beauty pageant… all I have to say is well done Argentina;) hahah 🙂 We have decided to drop all of our investigators and start from scratch again! I love getting to know so many different missionaries here, and learning so many ways to teach!:) I definitely love being able to be me in the Spanish Language finally! 🙂 I am so thankful for all of your support! I am sorry this letter is short but today is a little different!:)

The picture says this family is catholic and believes in the Virgin Mary, please do not insist. You already know I insisted.:)

Also, i invite you all to give one reference to the local missionaries. They can use them, and just because you don’t have a plaque doesn’t mean you aren’t part of the Lords army!

Quiedense!:)

I LOVE YOU ALL!

SO yes I am holding cigs, and yes they are in my apartment, and yes we did soak them in milk, and yes we did give them to Alejandro to try and make him sick when he smokes them, and yes that is sketchy. I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY!!!!!!

Week 13: Eldorado Argentina

When in the service of Lord, how can you not just smile.

Hello folks!!!
So this was another week in BEAUTIFUL Eldorado! On Tuesday we had a Zone Meeting, which for me means chillin with one of my best friends Elder Eddenfield for a good 3 hours! He truly is becoming one of my best friends, and tomorrow I will have the opportunity to go on divisions with him up in his area in Puerto Esperanza (Port Hope).

Then on Wednesday we went out to Km 18 where we have a couple “Investigators”. We have Alejandro who now days just tries to brag about how he started a church, and baptized people, and were just like dude that’s NOT a good thing… Anyways he doesn’t come to church anymore for random reasons that no one really knows. Then THURSDAY we had lunch with the Medinas, Hugo Medina is the MAN! HE is like my dad out here! He is so much fun, and speaks a little English which is super fun! He is always calling us to help and what not! His daughter is like fluent in English, but is scared to speak.. its funny! He truly is the man!

This is HUGO MEDINA FOLKS! HE IS THE MAN!!!! He truly is one of my heros, and I am growing to love him, and look up to him so so so much!

Then on Friday we worked and worked and worked, but NOTHING. All day, so we went to the bus terminal to see if the office had sent our supplies, and new phone because we currently don’t have one, that we have been waiting for for over 2 weeks, such as Agendas, Books of Mormon, Pamphlets and stuff, but it wasn’t there, and still isn’t here, but at the bus terminal we met Marcus, he is 19 and works there! He speaks a little English, but LOVES me and my comp, and is super willing to here the gospel, he was like I cant join your church cause I like girls and stuff right? And I was like homie, trust me, that is not an issue! He loved talking about my love life, and was giving me advice! It was funny!:)

Saturday was kinda cool, It was Luz Paredes baptism, we have been giving her the lessons, she just turned 8, and her whole family are members but her parents wanted her to be converted, so she got baptized and everything, but we went to fill the font for them, but it was full from the last baptism a month ago, and STUNK! So we unfill it…by hand… for 4 hours, then the Branch Pres shows up and drops cane on us for unfilling it, so then we fill it again by hand… it was annoying, butt worth it! Her dad baptized her, but she chose me to give her the Holy Ghost! What a neat experience! I have never felt the spirit so strong!!

This is how we had to handle the font situation!

This is how we had to handle the font situation!

HOW blessed are we to have the CONSTANT Companion of the Holy Ghost in our lives?? It is always there, all we have to do is stay worthy of it! IT truly is a gift from god, and through it and faith we can receive other gifts such as More faith, Testimony, Tongues, etc. I know with all of my heart that the holy ghost will guide you, and help you if you ASK with FAITH!

I love you all, and thank you so so much for your support!

@KingBrayd 😉

This is our make shift American flag we made for 9/11. It was so cool, we did the pledge, a moment of silence, and everything. I invite you all to pray for those serving to keep us free, and with out them, and our freedom, i know the church would not have been able to be restored. I am so thankful for all the men and women in uniform.

Week 12: Eldorado Argentina

I SAW A FREAKING WILD MONKEY!

Yes folks It finally happened. Many missionaries never get to see one, but I Elder Nielsen saw a wild monley and got pictures and everything. Even the locals were freaking out when I told them. I named it Dirty mike, because ya know.. Its Mike.. lol 🙂

Anyways, Transfers are today and me and my comp are staying put here in Eldorado. This week was super boring. I went to Posadas on monday at 3am to arrive there at 8 am. to do paperwork, but then I got there and they realized they had messed up, and I couldn’t do anything.. But then I was with the homie Elder Eddenfield on the bus ride back. It was so fun. We planned a whole trip to vegas for when we get back with me him and Elder Thomas. Thats’ gonna be legit. Then on Wednesday my comp was “Sick” so we couldn’t leave the pension. That frustrated me beyond belief. You can’t help people if you don’t work. I came here to work, not sit around all day, but on the bright side I got to start reading Portugese, and Guarani Books of Mormon which was GREAT. It’s so so hard, but me and Elder Eddenfield are both gonna dig into it. Then Thursday we had a Zone Meeting, so we didnt get back until around 8 and just had to go to a meeting with the branch pres. Then friday we FINALLY worked. We went out to KM18 and taught Rosalia who honestly wants to be baptized, but I have to speak slow spanish to her or she doesnt understand, and she can’t read, so that makes it hard. Then Alejandro had a friend over so we couldn’t really teach him, so then we came back to the city. And went to this kids house named Augustin, we gave him a BOM last week, and well he finished it already. MIND BLOWN. He is 11 years old. WHOA!!!! Then Saturday we taught the Famila Lopez with Hermano Parades, that went pretty well!! The spirit was pretty strong with him!! But we got stuck after because there was flooding from the rain, so we sat in Hermano Parades truck and waited for HOURS. He is the only member with a vehicle.. were lucky that he is super cool and nice! But yeah. Then on Sunday we had NO ONE at church again because the buses dont work with the rain, so we just chilled. After church we did a Rescante which is a rescue where we go on divisions and the whole branch splits up and visits the Menos Activos (Less Actives) which there are over 100 in our little branch alone. I am so blessed to have such awesome members here, and to have such good relationships with all of them. They truly have taken me in, and are treating me like family.

Me and Elder Eddenfield:)

Me and Elder Eddenfield:)

Also our Zone Leaders HATE us. They are both natives, and after every meeting they and the other natives go have lunch, so we asked if we could come, and they lied to us AGAIN and told us that they werent going to lunch, and then Elder Eddenfield calls me later and told me they went to lunch and just talked crap to Elder Eddenfield because me and him are friends, and he told them they wouldnt have let him come either if it wasnt for his native companion. I guess its a real problem in our mission when natives have leadership postions they tend to discriminate against the Americans, but its okay, because im still from USA and know what real life and the real world is like and they dont 🙂 lol

I invite you all to read and ponder Exodus 3:14. It says 2 words 3 times. “I Am” Notice it isnt “I was” or “I will be”. These 2 simple words testify that Christ lives, and that he is a never changing god. There fore we must STAND firmly and NOT change with the times. As i said 2 weeks ago plant your stakes firmly in the ground and point them right at the temple. Right towards “I AM”. Always remember that HE IS. and i testify unto all of you that HE LIVES.

I love you all. thank you SOSOSO much for all of the support. It truly is felt, and pushes me along everyday.

These are the many lanugages of my mission.:) O Livro de Mormon- Portugese El Libro De Mormon- Spanish Mormon Kuatiane'e- Guarni And of course the best of all. HOLA!!! Another week in Eldorado! We found out Monday that our Zone Leaders took Puerto Esperanza to the Iguazu falls with out us, so we are all salty towards them, and stuff. Not a ton happened this week! We met an 11 year old named Augustin on Tuesday! He is smarter than me in the Bible, and its super hard to teach his family because he loves to talk, but we gave him a Libro de Mormon. We went back on Thursday and he was already to words of Mormon.. What the crap kid!!?? He understands everything really well! That’s just a random story, but anyways we met with Alejandro… He is a strange guy.. he wants to quit smoking, but he doesn’t? I don’t even know anymore. I just constantly bare testimony that he can do this! And then I told him to throw away his cigarettes and he said no that’s a decision I need to make, so I said then make it! Its the first step, and then he said he will think about it. He KNOWS this is the true church. HE KNOWS IT! That’s what’s so hard. Me and Elder Eddenfield found his sister in law while on divisions and SHE WANTS TO BE BAPTIZED! She just needs to get her butt to church and then we will be good to go. She told me that the first time I came when we were leaving I bore my testimony and she said she hasn’t stopped thinking about how strong that made her feel the spirit! That made me so so happy. We were unable to meet with the Familia Lopez this week.. which saddens me. Jose NEEDS this gospel. We were all planned to go out there on Saturday, and there is a bus at 6:00! So at 5:45 my comp said I wanna change my slacks real quick, so I was like hurry, but then he changed his slacks, and then his socks to match his slacks, and then a new tie, and why not a new shirt to.. I was like Seriously dude?? I yelled at him for like 10 minutes cause we missed the bus. I am so done with him. He thinks he is so much better than me, and everyone here. Like seriously his family is better than mine, he is better at soccer than me, he is better at having a down syndrome brother than me and he doesn’t even have one. ITS SO ANNOYING. I finally just said look man you complain about being here and having no baptisms maybe you should be humble and love the people and not just talk about your big house or lawyer dad all day. Things have been really quiet since then, but he needed to hear it. He is so disobedient it is killing me. I stay up alone from 9-1030 while he sleeps and then I exercise alone, and study alone. Its so hard to do anything, but The Lord wants me to learn patience and I know I need to learn patience. It was SO stormy this week it wasn’t even funny. Saturday night it sounded like we were in the middle of the ocean, I couldn’t sleep! The power was out most of the week, and there were like 8 of us at church because of the rain, and it was a Branch Conference so that was awkward!

This is how we eat when were out clapping at houses, I jump and grab some fruit off a random fruit tree! So fun!!:)

I do love Argentina with all of my heart and soul, and I daily progress in this language of Spanish. Thank you all SO SO much for your support. It means the world to me. Also thank you to my mom, dad, sister, brother, and brother in law for setting such amazing examples to me, and for raising me to the man I am now. I love you guys so much its not even funny. Also Chelsea Bennett, she literally has stood by me for years, and without her I probably would have been a lot stupider, she also is like a spiritual giant. There are so many people to thank and so little time, but Zac in England, Brink in Washington, Dallen in Houston, Mike in Tennessee, Connan in Cape Verde, Paden in Chile, and Jace in Brazil. Thank you guys for everything you have done for me, and for the amazing friends you have been. I love all of you with all of my heart.

Hasta la proxima semana,
